Wrongful Death and Senior Citizens

The term, "Wrongful Death", in Personal Injury legal terminology refers to the death of a person caused by the wrongful act of another. I often receive calls or Emails from the adult children of a parent who has died due to some negligent act of another. Many people incorrectly assume that since an adult child of a deceased parent may not have been financially dependent on the deceased parent, that the adult child cannot file a lawsuit for the wrongful death of that parent. In fact the adult children can file wrongful death lawsuits for such a death. As a Coachella Valley personal injury attorney I find that some of our senior citizens pass away because of negligent medical or nursing care. I would urge family members to monitor how their parents and grandparents are being cared for in long term nursing homes. I am not saying that the Coachella Valley, Palm Springs, Palm Desert and the other Cove Communities don't offer quality medical and nursing care. Having said that, I must add that family members of senior citizens should be vigilant in making certain that their loved ones are receiving the quality care and respect they deserve. I have received too many calls from adult children about their parents who have developed infected sores while residing in nursing homes. I'm just saying…..
